Turning a Meta Lockout Into a Marketing Opportunity
For many small businesses, Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) are the backbone of their marketing strategy. They’re where we connect with our communities, run ads, share updates, and keep conversations going.
So what happens when you suddenly lose access to Meta?
For a small business owner or marketing strategist, it can feel like the lights just went out on your biggest stage.
That’s exactly the situation I recently found myself in.
Instead of seeing it as a setback, I decided to treat it as an opportunity to rethink how we connect with people. Because the truth is, great marketing has never depended on one platform.
It depends on relationships.
Marketing Is Bigger Than Any One Platform
When a channel disappears—even temporarily—it forces you to return to the fundamentals of marketing:
- Building authentic partnerships
- Creating meaningful content
- Connecting with your community in multiple places
- Owning your audience through channels like email, blogs, and direct communication
So while my Meta accounts are in limbo, I’m leaning into platforms and channels that can’t be taken away overnight.
You can now find me on Bluesky (@smtwnsara.bsky.social) where I’m going to be covering topics ranging from professional to personal; about marketing, partnerships, and supporting businesses that bring value to our communities.
And I’m using this blog as a space to highlight brands, experiences, and collaborations that deserve attention—starting with one of my longtime favorites.
Partner Highlight: Emagine Entertainment
One of the things I love most about marketing is highlighting businesses that create memorable experiences, and few do that better in Minnesota than Emagine Entertainment.
Emagine isn’t just a movie theater—it’s an entertainment destination. Their locations combine premium movie experiences with fun, community-focused activities that make a night out feel special.
Whether you're heading out with friends, planning a family movie night, or organizing a group event, Emagine offers experiences that go far beyond the typical theater visit.
What Makes Emagine Unique
Some of the standout experiences across Emagine locations include:
- Premium Large Format (PLF) Screens including Super EMX, EMX, Monster, and IMAX
- Immersive Dolby Atmos® sound (available in most PLF auditoriums)
- Luxurious power-reclining seats for ultimate comfort
- Laser projection technology for stunning visual clarity
- Secret Cinema events
- Krazy Darts entertainment
- A wide selection of food, snacks, drinks, and even local favorites on tap
It’s entertainment designed to be an experience, not just a screening.
The Power of Premium Large Format (PLF)
For movie lovers, Emagine’s Premium Large Format screens are where the magic really happens.
These massive screens are designed to deliver bigger visuals, deeper sound, and a fully immersive experience.
Here are just a few of the impressive PLF screens across Emagine locations:
Eagan EMX27 ft tall × 53 ft 11 in wide
Monticello Monster32 ft 6 in tall × 80 ft wide
Rogers Super EMX32 ft 6 in tall × 80 ft wide
White Bear EMX19 ft 9 in tall × 44 ft 6 in wide
Minnesota moviegoers should also check out:
- The IMAX screen at Lakeville
- The new EMX screens at Willow Creek
If your local Emagine theater doesn’t have a PLF screen (for example Delano, East Bethel, or Waconia), it’s absolutely worth making a movie “field trip” to one of these premium locations.
Even better—your passes cover the extra PLF screen fees, making it easy to upgrade your movie night.
And here’s a detail every movie fan appreciates:
๐ฌ Trailers are never more than 15 minutes—just enough time to get settled in with your popcorn and drink before the main event begins.
Why Partnerships Matter More Than Platforms
This is exactly why I love highlighting businesses like Emagine.
Marketing isn’t just about impressions and algorithms. It’s about building real connections between brands, communities, and experiences people genuinely enjoy.
When one platform disappears, the relationships remain.
And sometimes losing access to something familiar forces you to discover better ways to tell stories and support the businesses around you.
For me, that means:
- Writing more
- Highlighting great partners
- Connecting with people on new platforms
- And continuing to support businesses that create experiences worth sharing
Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
If there’s one takeaway from this experience, it’s this:
Never build your entire marketing strategy on someone else’s platform.
Build it on relationships.
If you’d like to follow along as I share more partner highlights, marketing insights, and community collaborations, you can find me now on Bluesky and here on the Marketing Intellect blog.
And if you’re in Minnesota and looking for a memorable night out, consider planning your next movie night with Emagine Entertainment.
Because some experiences are simply better on the biggest screen possible.
